The No. 1 man of Sarawak has become the focus of attention again after a report was lodged against him for corruption this morning (07.07.2010)

Led by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) State Youth Secretary Zulhaidah Suboh and Piasau Branch Secretary Chong Kon Fatt, a 7-member team of the Opposition party knocked at the door of the MACC Miri office requesting it to conduct an investigation over an exposure in a website of a long list of property and businesses in Canada and Australia said to be in the possession of Taib Mahmud and his family, the longest-serving “monarch” in Sarawak and Malaysia.

This is the third time such report is made against the filthy rich Taib Mahmud and his family for squandering the State money and siphoning it out of the country for overseas investments. The first one was done by PKR Kuching led by Party Sate Youth Chief Ahmad Nazib on 29 June this year followed by a another one by Dr Ting, Chairman of Ranting Pelawan on 30 June . In fact, the opposition has earlier lodged a report in Shah Alam on 22 June headed by Ahmad Nazib and James Wong , the report has to be withdrawn however, after the MACC Officer refused to give the complainants a copy of the report.

When contacted by phone this afternoon, Zulhaidal confirmed the news of such action and added that the whole episode lasted less than two hours with the second man of the MACC office taking down her statement. When asked whether she encountered any harassment during the process, the iron lady of the opposition says the officer has been fairly co-operative in spite of her being summoned again to the office in the afternoon for interrogation which lasted well before 5pm.

In replying to a question by the reporter doubting the MACC would ever act on such report against the rich and powerful, Zulhaidah confesses of slim chances but adds that the ugly truth must be revealed to the public regardless of an inaction of the BN machinery.
